There are plenty of things to do in Manson during the spring, summer, and fall.  Many activities, but not all, center around Lake Chelan.  Lake Chelan is a large, deep water lake.  It is over 1,500' deep in places and the bottom lies below sea level.  The lake is over 55 miles long, with the town of Chelan at the bottom and the community of Stehekin at the top.  Stehekin is only accessible by boat, and it is served by the Chelan Boat Company and by float plane.  A trip to Stehekin is a full day endeavor, well worth the time and effort.

Biking.  Biking along the quiet rural roads in Manson is fun for the whole family.  The "Manson Loop" has gentle hills and wonderful views of the Lake, mountains, orchards, and beautiful homes.

Boating.    Lake Chelan provides wonderful opportunities for boating.  Boat rentals are available from several sources in Chelan and personal watercraft rentals are available at Wapato Point Resort and at the Manson Bay Marina.  The best boat launch on the lake is at the Old Mill Park (no swimming here) east of downtown Manson along Highway 150.  Boats can be launched at Old Mill Park and then kept in the water at the Manson Bay Marina right next to downtown.  Visitors at Wapato Point Resort can also dock boats at the resort.  There is ample short term and long term parking at the Old Mill boat launch.  The daily fee for launching and parking is $7.00 and $4.00 per day for additional days.  A non-resident yearly pass costs just $40.00.  Lake Chelan lies in the Wenatchee National Forest and boat camping is available uplake from Manson at one of the "boat-in" campgrounds.  Click here for a map showing Lake Chelan and the National Forest.  For more information about boat camping on Lake Chelan visit the webpage for the Chelan Ranger District.

When boating on Lake Chelan please remember that owners and operators of all water-craft must be of legal age and must know and obey the maritime Navigation Rules.  Additonally, all owners and operators must comply with Washington State Boating Safety Laws including rules applicable to life jackets and possession of a valid Washington Boater Education Card.  Lake Chelan is patrolled by Chelan County Sheriffs deputies.  Please remember, it is illegal to operate any boat while intoxicated.

Fishing.  Fishing in Lake Chelan is excellent.  Anglers can catch trout right off the docks at Manson Bay Marina.  Manson also has 4 smaller lakes that provide good fishing, along with other recreation.  Opening weekend at Wapato Lake is a great time to catch trout.  If you plan to fish, you can purchase a fishing license at shops in Manson or Chelan or buy one on-line.  To buy a license on-line visit the website of the Washington State Dep't of Fish and Wildlife.  You can also download a copy of the fishing regulations from the WDFW Fishing and Shellfish Rules page.

Golfing.  The Lake Chelan Golf Course is just a 10 minute drive from Manson.  This municipal course is well designed and maintained and is fun for all golfers.  Bear Mountain Ranch Golf Course is above the south shore of lake Chelan (about 20 minutes from Manson) and has fantastic views of the lake and mountains.  Golfers can also play at Alta Lake Golf Course, located just 30 minutes north of Chelan.  About 30 minutes south of Chelan on the east side of the Columbia River you will find Desert Canyon Golf Course.  For more information, go to our golfing page.

Swimming.  The water in Lake Chelan can get quite warm during the summer months, especially along the shoreline areas.  Public swimming in Lake Chelan is available at parks managed by the Manson Parks and Recreation District.  Parks with swimming are located in downtown Manson and at Willow Point.  For more information go to our Manson Parks page.

Winery Tours:  Manson area vinyards and wineries are now producing award winning vintages.  A tour of local wineries is a great way to spend an afternoon.  They can be visited by car, by bike, or by one of the area limousine services.  Several wineries also have a restraurant.  For more information go to our page for Wineries in Manson.
